Trifles

Since having my own children, there have been times I have had to miss work due to their being sick. I always get anxious about what happens at my job while absent taking care of sick children. 

As time has progressed with my children and having another baby in the house, I have learned to remove the feeling of anxious and replace with it neutral concern for my work and focus more attention of my sick child feeling comforted. 

I hate it took my eight years and four children to figure it out but I’m glad I have. 

The Best Part About #Daddyand4Daughters

Yesterday we came home from school and my wife told me to stay home and rest while she takes girls to basketball practice. I have games tonight at my school and then my doctoral classes start soon. 

I am so blessed to have a spouse that sees my needs before I have to express them. 

Enough for a team

Each time we are told we need to have one more daughter to have a basketball team we roll our eyes. 

In reality, a team doesn’t need require a number but a belief. A belief that “Together Everyone Achieves More”. 

I hope these four sisters remain a team for their lifetime. 

Don’t be surprised by kids’ success

Carrington’s coach told me that Carrington can score points last night before their game this morning. I laughed. 

Well, Carrington scored six of her team eight points in their win today against Central Heights. 

I. Was. Shocked.  I am glad I am reminded not assume what my kids can or can’t do until they do or don’t do it. 

And, even if she hadn’t scored I would love her the same. Only now, she tells me “she loves it” so now my child has found a passion and that is encouraging. 

Learn how to listen

Willow is 18 months and doesn’t say “come here” or “come on”. She just summons me with her hands. 

One day she will unsummon me with her hands so this works great for now. 

Little moments like this are why the social media and Amazon Prime settings can go away for a while. 

With me being in a doctoral program and my wife working on building her business so she can stay at home one day, there is nothing more earthly precious to me at this point then little fingers waving me to “come on”. 

Gotta realize when it’s time to be the real you

Often times I get caught up in being PrincipalZC and forget to remember I’m #Daddyand4Daughters and that the two can co-exist. 

I’m working on that a lot this year and hope to become better for it to all those who depend on me at home and at work.

Reasons to start fresh and find old habits

. While balancing my personal life, #daddyand4daughters, and professional life, the findings of #Mindfulness have been huge for my well-being and #SelfLeadership.

Most Mornings

Most mornings I find my daughters sleeping on our two couches in the downstairs living room. They each have a bedroom upstairs and plenty of Barbie dolls, karaoke machines and Nintendos to keep them busy. I often times want to be agitated at them for not sleeping in their own rooms, but hey, the 18-month sleeps in our bed. 

As I continue with my one word for 2019, mindfulness, I reflect and am happy that I can wake up each morning and know my children are safe and well. I do get upset that we have a 3000 square foot home with 5 bedrooms, 4 restrooms and we utilize about 8 square feet and one toilet. But that’s not really who I am. I step back and am just happy I have them yahoos to keep me honest and humble and prayerfully, I have them for a long time and their future families. 

Back to Basics

When my wife and I married nine years and began having children, #Daddyand4Daughters as not even a thought. I simply would take photos and videos and upload them to YouTube,  My YouTube Account. We had Graycie, then 16 months later Carrington and 18 months later Stella and three years later Willow. 

As our children are growing and becoming more independent, I’ve decided to take the 

#Daddyand4Daughters and attempt to write more about them while continuing my photos and videos. 

In an effort to complete this, I will only post to Instagram (PrincipalZC_), and share to Twitter and Facebook from there. 

As 2019 begins, I hope to refrain from refreshing newsfeeds and refocus on my family and their story as it impacts mine.
